Undoubtedly Udawalawe National Park is the best national park to see Sri Lanka's giant in land, Sri Lankan Elephant(Elephas maximus maximus). There are no seasonal changes in herds. So you can see elephants in every time in the year. Udawalawe National Park was established on 30th June 1972 to provide sanctuary for wild animals displaced by construction of the Udawalawe Reservoir and protect the catchment of the reservoir. In addition to elephants, Jackals, wild water buffaloes, mongooses, deers, monkeys, slender loris, lizards, snakes, crocodiles,birds and butterflies can be seen in Udawalawe National Park. Though leopards are recorded, they are not common sight. So visit Udawalawe National Park and enjoy wildlife.
